John Parker Boyd (December 21, 1764 – October 4, 1830) was an officer in the United States Army at various periods from 1786 to the end of the War of 1812. He attained the rank of Brigadier General and commanded during the American defeat at the Battle of Crysler's Farm. ==Early life== Boyd was born in Newburyport, Massachusetts on December 21, 1764.〔Spencer C. Tucker, (The Encyclopedia Of the War Of 1812 ), 2012, page 74〕 Too young to serve in the American Revolution, but decided upon a military career, he served in the militia〔Robert Malcomson, (Historical Dictionary of the War of 1812 ), 2006, page 52〕 and joined the Army as an Ensign in 1786.〔John C.
